ISL CREATIVE STUDIO

ISL Creative Studio is a space dedicated to providing accessible information to the Deaf community in Indian Sign Language (ISL). Our goal is to capture and celebrate the rich diversity of sign language variations across India, while creating engaging and culturally relevant resources for the community. The studio serves not only as a platform for learning and expression but also as a growing archive for future generations. We warmly invite Deaf community members to contribute—whether it's personal stories, local jokes, cultural traditions, or anything that sparks interest and connection. Looking ahead, we aim to create a dynamic platform that entertains both Deaf and hearing audiences through talk shows, game shows, and other creative formats—bringing Deaf perspectives into the mainstream and bridging communities through shared experiences. This studio belongs to the community, built by the community for the community.

ISL TRANSLATION AND VIDEO EDITING TRANING PROGRAM

Across India, many Deaf individuals showed talent in video editing and Indian Sign Language (ISL) translation, but structured platforms for training, mentorship, and real-world exposure remained scarce. To address this, Hear A Million ran a four-day ISL translation and video editing training program — an intensive pilot camp strengthening Deaf-led creative work. Participants built technical skills in ISL translation and video editing through guided, hands-on learning. Beyond skills, the program fostered community connections, mentorship, and networks supporting future employment and growth in ISL media.
ISL STORYTELLING & VISUAL VERNACULAR WORKSHOP

Visual Voice is a first-of-its-kind initiative bringing together workshops in Visual Vernacular and ISL Theatre, including ISL Poetry and ISL ABC storytelling. It culminated in a national competition, selecting top performers who expressed their unique artistic voices. The initiative aims to nurture self-performers and build confidence, supporting Deaf artists to step onto mainstream stages.
